Turn-up stuffers

Pipi Long stocking was my childhood role model. As well as teaching me to carry white horsed with my strong arms and how to roll ginger bread out on the floor, she  taught me to be  a TURNUPSTUFFER. This capacity is really useful and now we are well practiced Mark and I both turn- up stuff at the rate of knots. We just can't help it. Mark has the sharpest eyes so he is a really useful person to have along with me on these Geopark explorations. We use the GPS to log our finds if they are of archaeological significance and one of these days we will take what we have found in to the museum in Exeter. They have a great system which allows people to take finds into be identified and logged. We took some things in and have been so busy we have not been back. Anyway we hadn't got the GPS so I took this photo instead.

I always assumed these black flint tools that are scattered around the Geopark were flint but perhaps I am wrong. Could this wonderful shiny black flint actually be some kind of volcanic rock like obsidian or basalt.
