Killer Sheep

We often take foreign students out to the countryside, it is a kind of mission to share what we love with others which is much appreciated.

Jun is one of Mark's EFL students, he helped us move house and he is off home on Christmas day. He has already been to Cockington on the host family bike and with a friend, but Mark wanted to take him up to the back of the estate and Stantor Barton Farm, where you can get a really good overview of the Geopark.

They had a giggle about a sheep robber who came to a sticky end! Gallows corner which is up by the ringroad is at the ancient boundary of four parishes. Usually people were hung in the normal way, but in this case so the story goes the Man was hung by a sheep. While awaiting his turn at the gallows the man was apparently tied by the neck to a sheep. The man made a bid for freedom and jumped over a hedge. The sheep jumped down the wrong side and the rope was brought tight around the robbers neck, killing him in an unusual way.
