Joined up thinking
A significant swell of marketing activity is building within the English Riviera and the Tourism Strategy presented by Carolyn Custerson last week made a very interesting (and I believe salient) point. The Geopark is one of the best assets we have in and around the Bay, so collectively we should aim to make this a core element to all of our sales and marketing activity. With that in mind, I would recommend that those involved with the Geopark produce some kind of 'marketing toolkit', which could be provided to anyone interested in using the Geopark in their marketing. This toolkit should include the key marketing messages - not just features of the Geopark but explicitly how those features can benefit the visitor. It should include logos, great (royalty-free) photography, interesting stories, places to visit and clear indicators showing how one can find more information. We have to remember that most of the people coming into contact with the English Riviera's tourists and visitors are not professional marketers. We need to make their marketing job as easy, straightforward and effective as we can.
