News from the Geopark
Ten more areas join the Global Geoparks Network10 Sep 2013
The decisions of the Global Geopark Bureaux have been announced and the Network now has 100 members around the world. Congratulations go to Azores Geopark – Portugal, Grutas del Palacio – Uruguay, Karavanke/Karawanken - Slovenia & Austria, Yanqing Geopark – P.R. China, Idrija Geopark – Slovenia, Shennongia Geopark - P.R. China, Hondsrug Geopark – Netherlands, Oki islands Geopark - Japan, Sesia – Val Grande Geopark –Italy, Kula Geopark -Turkey.
The Global Geoparks Network now comprises 100 members spread across 29 countries and 4 continents! 58 in Europe as part of the European Geoparks Network (founded in 2000). 39 in the Asia-Pacific region as part of the Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network (founded in 2009) and 3 inAmerica!
