Welcome

We would love you to escape the everyday by visiting and exploring our beautiful bay. Here are our tips for making the most of your stay on the English Riviera and to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable time.

Plan Ahead

It’s always a good idea to visit the websites of our partners before you visit, to see if they have put any new procedures in place. Our event section includes lots of ideas for what you can do when you when you are in the area, so don’t miss out on any of the amazing events and festivals.

Book Ahead

With a very busy summer expected, do book ahead as early as possible. If you are visiting from outside of the area, we would also recommend you book your accommodation before you arrive, as well as for activities and at cafes and restaurants wherever possible.

Be Green

Our roads do get clogged up over the summer months, so do consider exploring the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark on foot or by bike or perhaps even look into kayaking or renting a stand-up paddleboard. Check out our partners and associated partners, while there are lots of ideas on this website.

Be Clean

With more people that ever visiting our beaches and coast paths, it has become a real struggle for both the council and Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust to stay on top of the additional litter and dog waste. If possible, take your litter with you and dispose of it in a bin closer to your home or accommodation. And if you are able to pick up additional rubbish, it would be most appreciated.

Be Kind

With another bumper summer of staycations on the cards and an ongoing recruitment crisis in the hospitality industry, many staff will be working long hours in very busy venues. Please be patient, as things may take a little longer than usual and join us in thanking them for all of their hard work during some difficult circumstances.

Have Fun

Torbay and the English Riviera is a really beautiful place to explore. We are immensely proud of our natural environment and take great pleasure in people enjoying it as much as we do. Do take pictures of your adventures and share them on our social media – we would love to see what you have been up to.
