Plans for £500k Geopark themed playground to be unvieled

29 Jun 2009

The initial plans for Paignton's £500,000 children's playground will be unveiled at a public meeting this week.

Torquay architects Kay Elliott are to explain their first thoughts for the Paignton Green site and play facility.

A display will be mounted of the children's ideas for the playground from Oldway Primary School. The children said they wanted a natural playground.

The initial design brief is to enable young visitors to explore the five senses and weaves in the English Riviera Geopark theme.

Paignton Community Partnership chairman Richard Kaskow said: "We want Paignton people to be very much involved in the design of this project from the outset, so please come along as a family and have your say, do some drawings and see what can be achieved.

"Residents will have the opportunity to comment on the scheme, make additions and fine tune it. We want to make this the best playground in the South West.  It is also hoped the community will become involved in certain aspects of the construction and landscaping, especially as the park will be open for many years to come. We want local people to feel a sense of ownership from the outset."
