Come and celebrate with us during the Geopark Festival, which runs from Thursday 26 May to Thursday 2 June Climate Conversations All the events are being held at the Carlton Hotel in Torquay and are completely free. Geology of Hope’s Nose Venue: Hopes Nose This is a unique opportunity to see the rare greater horseshoe bats at Berry Head. The chat will be followed by a beach clean and micro litter pick and plenty of time to enjoy some refreshments and socialising in the cafe after. Venue: Fishcombe Cove CafĂ© Sustainability in the Stone Age Visit the Palaeo-Table at Kents Cavern to handle prehistoric artefacts and learn about how Stone Age people maintained a sustainable lifestyle through responsible consumption and production. Venue: Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves Vigilance of Brixham is a gaff-rigged ketch and a heritage vessel of national importance, with recognisable red sails. Join the Reach Outdoors team down at Goodrington Beach for a 3-hour Kayak tour from Goodrington Sands beach with a focus on learning about the wildlife we see in the Bay. Jubilant Papermaking Visit delightful Cockington Court for an hour-long workshop making handmade paper sheets with Marissa Wakefield. Participants (any age and ability) will learn to create their very own sheets of handmade paper. The paper pulp will be red, white and blue to celebrate the Jubilee. Venue: Cockington Court Outdoor Painting / Sketching A chance to meet the Cockington Court Artist in Residence, James Murch and join him in the park for some plein air (open air) painting. Please bring along your own materials, easel or sketch book. The group will meet at 3pm and gather again at 5pm for a chance to share a coffee, a slice of cake and look at the group work created. To add to the ambience there will also be a choir performing in the grounds to celebrate The Queen's Jubilee.
