We want to encourage people to be proud of where they live and celebrate their connection to the English Riviera, a place of international importance that is also home to many. Through local, national and international community projects, people can play an active role in the Geopark while celebrating the ties they have to this incredible part of the world.
If you are running a community project that links with the Geopark please get in touch, we would love to hear more and help support if possible.
Earth Echoes
A musical community performance created with the local community, which opened the 7th International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks in Torbay.
Geoplay Park, Paignton
The Geopark-themed playground on Paignton seafront was created with the community — complete with a theme song recorded by the children of Curledge Street Academy.
Falling
A short documentary about how a group of young people, supported by local musicians and players from the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, created a new musical myth for their home.
Geopark Marine Photo Exhibition at Torbay Hospital
Through collaboration with Torbay Hospital NHS and the HeARTS Gallery the Geopark created a temporary photo exhibition celebrating how special the marine environment of the Geopark is. Sharing both wonderful photography and the Geopark Seaside Code, the exhibition was designed for both staff and patients alike to provide a little mindful escape from the stress of the hospital environment and encourage all to care for our special bay.
Geopark coordinator Melanie Border 'It was really moving to see how people reacted to the exhibition and the difference it made to people's day! We hope this is just the start of an exciting relationship with the Hospital'
