About Us

The English Riviera Geopark Community Interest Company (ERGCIC) is the managing body and legal entity responsible for stewarding the UNESCO designation and coordinating delivery across the whole English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark (ERUGGp).

The objectives of the CIC are the promotion of the conservation, enhancement and sustainable management of the natural, coastal and marine environment, culture and heritage of Torbay, and the advancement of public education, community participation and sustainable development through the activities and objectives of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.

In carrying out these objects, the ERGCIC seeks to secure and sustain the commitments associated with the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark designation, for the benefit of residents, visitors, learners, volunteers and local communities.

The Geopark operates under the UNESCO International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme (IGGP). The designation requires ongoing compliance with UNESCO standards, participation in international networks, and continuous improvement in conservation, education and community benefit.
